When your Shopify store is connected to Shipbots, Shopify takes control of managing your inventory by default. This means Shipbots will not automatically sync inventory updates to your Shopify account. To enable Shipbots to manage your inventory, you need to configure it as a location and make some adjustments in your Shopify settings. Here's a step-by-step guide:
How to Set Up Shipbots as a Location in Shopify
To designate Shipbots as a fulfillment location in Shopify, you can either create a new location or modify an existing one. Follow these steps:
- Log in to your Shopify Admin account.
- From the left-hand navigation menu, go to Settings and click on Locations.
- If you’re adding a new location, click Add Location in the top-right corner. If you’re updating an existing one, select the location name you wish to modify.
- Enter Shipbots as the location name. It’s important to use the exact name "Shipbots" to ensure the inventory syncs correctly.
Tip: If you operate from multiple countries, you’ll need to create a location for each.
- Provide the address for the primary Shipbots warehouse where your shipping plans are sent. As a reminder, our address is: 1725 Rosecrans Ave Gardena, CA 90249.
- Tick the box labeled "Fulfill online orders from this location."
- Click Save.
How to Assign Shipbots to Products in Shopify
For Shipbots to reflect accurate inventory counts in Shopify, you need to associate the Shipbots location with the SKUs sent to their warehouses. Here’s how:
- From the left-hand menu in Shopify, go to Products and select Inventory.
- Choose the SKUs that are part of your Shipbots Shipping Plan.
- At the bottom of the page, click Bulk edit.
- In the upper-right corner, click Columns and select the column for the Shipbots location.
- Update the "Not Stocked" status to "Stock at this location" for each SKU, and set the quantity to 0. To apply this change across multiple rows at once, hold down SHIFT, select the cells, and edit one to apply the update to all.
- Save your changes by clicking Save.
Once your products are processed and stored at Shipbots, the inventory will sync with Shopify automatically. Any changes in stock levels—whether due to sales, restocking, or returns—will be updated in real time.
